Prof. Orogbu Named Legislator of the Year in Anambra

Prof. Obiag Lilian Orogbu, a first-term member of the House of Representatives representing Awka North in Anambra State, has been awarded the title of Legislator of the Year at the 5th edition of the Anambra Man of the Year Award organized by AMTI.

This recognition highlights her legislative activities and impactful projects within her constituency. Under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof.

Orogbu has initiated several infrastructure and empowerment projects, including road construction, the installation of 500 solar-powered street lights across 19 communities, and the construction of a borehole and police post in Isiagu. In the education sector, she facilitated the renovation of classroom blocks in selected schools and paid the JAMB fees for 170 indigent students, alongside awarding scholarships to outstanding students.

Additionally, she has implemented empowerment programs for traders, widows, youth, and farmers, distributing rice, fertilizers, and palm seedlings. Prof.

Orogbu also sponsors bills aimed at establishing a national institute for technical and vocational education and a federal college for entrepreneurship and skill acquisition in Isiagu, demonstrating her commitment to education and skill development.
