Wahid Oshodi Becomes First African on WTT Board

Wahid Oshodi has been appointed as a full director on the World Table Tennis (WTT) Board, marking a historic achievement as he becomes the first African to serve in this capacity. The decision was announced during an ITTF executive board meeting held on March 1, 2026, at the WTT headquarters in Singapore.

Oshodi's role is significant as it aligns with the WTT's mission to modernize the sport with a commercial focus. He was selected to represent the ITTF on the WTT Board, succeeding Liu Guoliang from China, with Khalil Al Mohannadi from Qatar being a major owner of WTT.

Petra Sörling, the ITTF president, confirmed Oshodi's appointment and emphasized the importance of ensuring that the commercial platform delivers value to the sport, which has 227 member associations worldwide. Oshodi currently serves as the president of the African Table Tennis Federation and has previously led the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), where he gained recognition for pushing government reforms and strengthening athlete development programs.
