Osimhen Aims for Quick Return in UCL After Injury

Victor Osimhen is hopeful of returning to action for Galatasaray in their UEFA Champions League clash against Sporting Lisbon next week after suffering a groin injury during a match against Istanbul Başakşehir on Friday, where he was substituted in the 33rd minute. Osimhen had scored the opening goal before being forced off due to discomfort.

Galatasaray confirmed that strain and pain were detected in his right adductor muscle group, and treatment commenced immediately. Advanced examinations, including an MRI scan, were conducted, with results expected by Sunday.

Despite initial concerns about his availability for the Champions League match, Osimhen expressed confidence, stating he would like to play if deemed fit by the coaching staff. His recovery is also being monitored by Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle ahead of Nigeria's upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
