Shola Oshunkey Celebrates 70th Birthday in Lagos

On Thursday, Shola Oshunkey, a veteran journalist, celebrated his 70th birthday with a colloquium at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism in Lagos. The event gathered distinguished media veterans and public figures, including Olusegun Osoba, chairman of the governing council of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, who led the celebration.

Keynote speaker Dele Momodu, a former presidential spokesperson, paid tribute to Oshunkey, emphasizing his significant contributions to journalism. Femi Adesina, senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, and other dignitaries, including traditional leaders and media trainers, attended.

Momodu's address focused on the decline of human interest journalism in Nigeria, urging editors to rethink content strategies to restore balance in newsrooms. He highlighted the role of human interest stories in shaping societal understanding and the importance of engaging with the lighter side of life.
