Man Arrested for Mutilating Body of Rukibat Babatunde

Babalola Saheed, a 42-year-old man, has been arrested by the Osun State Police Command for the alleged exhumation and mutilation of the corpse of 22-year-old Rukibat Babatunde. The police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, stated that Rukibat's father reported her death on October 12, 2026, after a brief illness, and she was buried the same day in accordance with Islamic rites at Olomo’s Compound in the Feesun area of Iwo.
The family was shocked to discover that her grave was dug up around 2:00 a.m., with the deceased's head and left arm severed. Following the report, police operatives initiated an investigation that led to Saheed's arrest.
During interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in the crime, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend two other suspects who remain at large. The severed head and left arm have been recovered and returned to the victim's father for proper reburial, while a cutlass believed to have been used in the crime was also recovered as evidence.
Saheed will be charged in court once investigations are complete.
