Adeleke Orders Arrests After NURTW Leader's Killing

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed the police commissioner to arrest all individuals involved in the killing of Oyeyemi Olalekan, known as ‘Emir,’ who was shot dead during a leadership conflict within the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Osun. Olalekan, a member of the State Transport Disciplinary Committee, was reportedly attempting to take control of the parks from the current leader, Wakili Nurudeen, also known as Alowonle.

The shooting occurred at Mayfair Motor Park in Ile-Ife during a meeting aimed at resolving a feud between factions. Following the incident, a vehicle carrying Olalekan’s associates crashed while fleeing the scene.

The Osun State Transport Management System had previously accused Olalekan of leading violent attempts to seize control of the union. Governor Adeleke has called for calm and announced plans to establish a park management system to restore order, emphasizing that all culprits will be held accountable.
