Adeleke Addresses Tensions Ahead of Osun Election

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke convened an emergency press conference to address rising tensions in the state ahead of the governorship election scheduled for Saturday. He claimed that a police signal had been issued for the immediate arrest of leaders from the Accord Party, suggesting they would be detained in Abuja until after the election.

Adeleke spoke with Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, urging clarification on the alleged directive, which he deemed illegal and a threat to democracy. He reported that over 62 Accord Party leaders were already detained without charges, calling this situation undemocratic.

Additionally, Adeleke raised concerns over a viral video featuring Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who allegedly called for the killing of Accord Party leaders and their families. He classified this as a national security threat and demanded an investigation and arrest of Fadahunsi.

The governor emphasized the need for the IGP to assure the public that no orders for such arrests had been issued.
