Osun Assembly Cautions Against Unauthorized LG Fund Withdrawals - Warns of Legal Consequences

The Osun State Assembly issued a warning against unauthorized withdrawals of local government (LG) funds, emphasizing the need for proper authorization in accessing LG accounts. Lawmakers stressed that only duly authorized officers employed by the Local Government Service Commission should have signatory rights.

Any attempt by unauthorized individuals to access LG funds was deemed unlawful and could lead to legal consequences. The Assembly directed commercial banks in Osun State to adhere strictly to this resolution to prevent financial fraud.

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees alleged that the federal government disbursed six months' worth of allocations to the state's LG accounts, highlighting the importance of safeguarding LG funds for grassroots development.
