Osun CSOs Urge FG to Address Economic Hardship

The Osun Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), represented by Executive Director Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun Alli, have called on the federal government to take urgent action to alleviate the economic hardships faced by average Nigerians.

During a media briefing in Osogbo on Tuesday, they expressed concern over the rising poverty levels, despite government statistics suggesting improvements in the country's macroeconomic indicators. Prof.

Oyedokun Alli pointed out that the current economic situation has made life increasingly difficult for Nigerians, with food prices soaring and agricultural insecurity exacerbating the crisis. He emphasized that the high cost of fuel has further inflated the prices of essential commodities.

The CSOs criticized the government's apparent indifference to the hardships faced by citizens and urged immediate measures, including lowering fuel costs and addressing agricultural challenges, to ease the burden on Nigerians. They also highlighted the need for the next state government to develop policies that directly impact the populace ahead of the upcoming governorship elections.
