Osun Drags AGF To Supreme Court Over Withheld LG Funds

Osun State has taken the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) to the Supreme Court over the withholding of local government funds. The state's legal team, led by Mike Ozekhome SAN and Musibau Adetunbi SAN, is seeking to compel the Federal Government to release seized allocations, which they argue is unconstitutional and arbitrary.

Despite previous judgments from the Federal High Court and Court of Appeal affirming the legitimacy of the local government officials elected in February 2025, the AGF has continued to withhold funds. Osun is requesting a declaration that the AGF lacks the constitutional power to seize local government funds and is seeking a perpetual injunction against future seizures.

The state has also filed a separate suit in the Federal High Court challenging the decision to transfer the case to Abuja, warning of potential conflicting judgments if the Supreme Court does not intervene.
