TOM Raises Alarm Over Insecurity Ahead of Osun Election

The Osun Masterminds (TOM) expressed alarm over the deteriorating security situation in Osun State as the August 15, 2026 governorship election approaches. During their July 2026 State of the State address, Executive Director Professor Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli noted increasing incidents of cult-related violence and political thuggery, particularly in Osogbo, Ede, Ilesa, and Ile-Ife.

He warned that unchecked violence could deter voter participation and undermine confidence in the electoral process. TOM urged all stakeholders, including the State Government, political parties, and security agencies, to prioritize peace and stability over political ambitions.

The organization called for the disbandment of informal security outfits and demanded that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) ensure adequate security at polling units. Additionally, Oyedokun-Alli criticized politically motivated arrests and selective law enforcement against opposition members, asserting that such actions violate fundamental human rights and threaten constitutional democracy.
