Osun Lawmaker Rabiu Atanda Withdraws Resignation

Rabiu Atanda, representing the Iwo State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, initially submitted his resignation from the Accord Party, which circulated on social media without a date or signature, prompting significant reactions. Atanda, who was elected on the platform of the People's Democratic Party in the 2023 general elections, had pledged support for Governor Ademola Adeleke's re-election in the upcoming gubernatorial poll scheduled for August 15.

However, just hours after his resignation, Atanda appeared in a video alongside Governor Adeleke's spokesperson, Olawal Rashe, and Speaker Adewal Egbedun, announcing his withdrawal of the resignation. He reiterated his support for Adeleke and expressed readiness to assist in the re-election efforts.

Adewal Adigun hinted that internal issues prompted Atanda's initial resignation, emphasizing that Atanda would not abandon the Accord Party ticket for the 2027 elections.
