Osun Speaker and 24 Lawmakers Join Accord Party

On Friday, Adewale Egbedun, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, announced his defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party, along with 24 lawmakers. This decision was made during a parliamentary meeting held at the banquet hall, where they formally declared their support for Governor Ademola Adeleke, who previously left the PDP to become the Accord Party's governorship candidate for the August 15 elections.

The announcement was made through a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Olamid Tiamiyu. Egbedun reaffirmed unwavering support for Governor Adeleke and emphasized the need for quality representation and transparent leadership.

The defecting lawmakers urged their constituents to remain steadfast and support the new political chapter aimed at ensuring continued governance and accelerated development in Osun State. This follows the resignation of 25 PDP lawmakers, with 26 members remaining in the Osun Assembly, including opposition lawmaker Femi Popoola from the All Progressives Congress.
