The accusations against him and another individual, Olayemi Ojo (popularly known as Sibi), surfaced after the death of Emir Ajagungbade, who was an ally of the governor. Following the violence, Governor Adeleke announced plans to ban all NURTW activities across Osun State.
Emir Ajagungbade has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
