Osun Police Declare NURTW Leader Wanted for Murder

The Osun State Police Command has declared Nurudeen Alowonle, the factional chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), wanted for the murder of Accord Party chieftain Olalekan Oyeyemi, also known as Emir. Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Zungura announced this on October 20, 2026, during a briefing in Osogbo.
Oyeyemi was killed on September 13, 2026, at Mayfair Motor Park in Ile-Ife amid disputes over control of motor parks in Osun. Six suspects have been arrested, including Hammed Olalekan Dauda, who allegedly confessed that Alowonle provided him with a firearm used in the attack.
The police are also searching for Adeyemi Ojo, known as Sibi, who is alleged to have participated in the crime. Zungura stated that preliminary investigations indicated that Alowonle and Ojo mobilized the suspects for the attack.
Following the murder, Governor Ademola Adeleke suspended NURTW activities in the state and directed security agencies to arrest those involved.
