Osun-Osogbo Festival to Host 500,000 Participants in 2026

The Osun-Osogbo festival, scheduled to take place from July 27 to August 7, 2026, is expected to attract 500,000 participants, according to a statement issued by Mr. Oyindamola Olukanni, the media head of Heritage Brand.

The festival, which has a 600-year history, aims to preserve cultural traditions and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The 2026 edition will focus on the theme "Preserving Heritage, Inspiring the Future," highlighting the role of tradition in guiding progress.

The festival is not merely a historical event but a living tradition that continues to engage the spiritual and cultural community. To enhance visibility and audience engagement, a monthly campaign will commence in February, leading up to the festival.

Additionally, a global summit is set for May 29, 2026, to bring together stakeholders to outline the festival's strategic direction. Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, the Ataoja of Osogbo, emphasized the festival's significance as a cultural institution in Africa.
