PDP Leaders Back Adeleke's Accord Party Alignment

In a significant political move, Senator Lere Oyewumi, representing Osun West under the People's Democratic Party (PDP), announced his support for Governor Ademola Adeleke's formal alignment with the Accord Party as the state prepares for the governorship election on August 15. This decision was made during a PDP stakeholders' meeting in Osogbo on Monday.

Oyewumi emphasized that the backing of Adeleke's candidacy is motivated by ongoing crises within the PDP's leadership in Osun State. He stated that the PDP in Osun will ensure that the electorate is aware of the internal party issues that could hinder good governance.

Additionally, Hon. Clement Olohunwa, representing the Boluwaduro/Ila/Ifedayo Federal Constituency, announced his defection to the Accord Party, alongside several other federal lawmakers including Mahruf Adewal, Bamidel Salam, Soji Adetunji, Mudashiru Lukman, Alani Iwo, Lanr Oladebo, and Irewol Isokan.

Governor Adeleke explained that this strategic move aims to avoid political entrapment during his re-election bid and urged support for the Accord Party in the upcoming election.
