ICPC to Combat Vote-Buying in Osun Governorship Poll

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) announced the deployment of operatives to all 30 local government areas in Osun State for the upcoming governorship election on August 15. This information was shared by Yusuf Olatunji, the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner for Osun State, during a street rally against vote-buying in Osogbo.

The rally, which involved various stakeholders including corps members and staff from the Independent National Electoral Commission, aimed to raise awareness about the illegality of vote-buying. Olatunji emphasized that the ICPC would not tolerate vote buying or selling, warning that anyone involved would face arrest and prosecution.

He urged voters to reject monetary inducements, highlighting the long-term negative impacts of vote-buying on democracy, governance, and public trust. The rally featured the distribution of fliers detailing the consequences of vote-buying, reinforcing the message that electing the wrong leaders can have lasting detrimental effects on society.
