Osun Speaker Dismisses False Letter Removing Ooni as Council Chairman

The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, has dismissed a letter circulating on a pseudo Facebook page that sought to remove the Ooni as the permanent chairman of the Osun Council of Obas. The statement, signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Olamidi Tiamiyu, clarified that the Speaker had not received any such authorization letter regarding the rotation of chairmanship among traditional rulers in Osun State.

The Speaker condemned the false information spread on the pseudo Facebook page, emphasizing that it did not reflect the legislative activities of the Assembly. The incident highlights the need for adherence to constitutional provisions and established legislative procedures.

In a related development, the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, recently inaugurated a new Oyo State Council of Obas with a rotational chairmanship among three prominent traditional rulers in the state.
