Osun YPP Rejects Links to Decampees Group Ahead of Election

The Osun State chapter of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) issued a statement distancing itself from the YPP Decampees Group, which has allied with the All Progressives Congress (APC). The statement, released on Tuesday by State Publicity Secretary Animasahun Saheed, clarified that the individuals associated with the group do not represent the YPP ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

This position was established after consultations with the State Working Committee, Local Government Executives, and stakeholders across Osun State. The YPP emphasized that it does not recognize or endorse the group and maintains operational unity across all 30 local government areas.

The party stated that any member who defects to another political party ceases to be a member of the YPP. Furthermore, the YPP confirmed it is not engaged in merger discussions and is fully mobilized for the upcoming election, committed to its principles of transparency, accountability, and youth inclusion.
