APGA and YPP Clash Over EFCC Chairman's Resignation Call

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Young Progressives Party (YPP) have expressed opposing views regarding the calls for the resignation of Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). This disagreement arose following the EFCC's decision to freeze an Osun State Government account as part of an investigation into the alleged diversion and laundering of approximately ₦11 billion linked to Ecology Funds, Intervention Funds, and Federal Allocation receipts.

While APGA contended that President Bola Tinubu's directive to reverse the EFCC's action was adequate, YPP raised concerns about the Commission's operational independence. The EFCC maintained that its investigation was unrelated to the upcoming governorship election.

In response to public criticism, President Tinubu ordered the EFCC to seek a court discharge of the freezing order, emphasizing that federal agency actions should not influence the electoral process. APGA's National Publicity Secretary, Ejimofor Opara, supported the president's intervention, while YPP's National Publicity Secretary, Wale Egbeola-Martins, called for accountability within the EFCC.
