Doris Ogala Challenges Abia Governor Over Campaign Fees

Doris Ogala, the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate in Abia State, accused Governor Alex Otti of being afraid of her due to the newly introduced ₦150 million campaign billboard permit fee. During her visit to the Abia State Structures for Signages and Advertising Agency (ABSSAA) on Thursday, Ogala rejected the fee, arguing it would prevent ordinary Nigerians from participating in the electoral process.

The Abia State Government announced that various political candidates would pay different amounts for advertising permits, with presidential candidates required to pay ₦200 million, senatorial candidates ₦100 million, House of Representatives candidates ₦50 million, and state Houses of Assembly candidates ₦20 million. Ogala criticized the policy as an attempt to frustrate opposition candidates, highlighting the economic hardships faced by residents.

She challenged the authorities to remove her campaign materials if she refused to pay and warned that such high fees would discourage less wealthy candidates from participating in the electoral process.
