Otti Advocates for Increased Female Representation in Abia

During a burial ceremony for Chiamaka Joyc Ikebkw, the deceased wife of Nnamdi Ikebkw, Abia State Governor Alex Otti called on the Abia State House of Assembly to improve female representation in governance. Otti highlighted that currently, there are no women among the 24 members of the assembly.

He urged the assembly members to consider creating constituencies that would allow women to participate actively in politics, particularly as the 2027 elections approach. Otti expressed gratitude for the contributions of Abia women throughout history and emphasized the importance of recognizing their efforts.

He also paid tribute to the late Chiamaka Ikebkw, describing her as a gift from God and a virtuous woman who made a significant impact on her family and community. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including the deputy governor and traditional rulers, who acknowledged the legacy of Abia women.
