Bangladesh Ex-PM Sheikh Hasina Sentenced to Death for Crimes Against Humanity

The court in Dhaka found Sheikh Hasina guilty of orchestrating a crackdown on mass demonstrations in 2024, resulting in the deaths of 1,400 people. She was convicted of incitement to kill, ordering killings, and failing to prevent atrocities.

Hasina, who ruled for 15 years, has been accused of human rights abuses and suppression of dissent. The Awami League, her party, has denounced the trial as politically motivated.

Hasina, currently in exile in India, has not been seen in public since losing power.
