British High Commissioner Praises Tinubu's Economic Reforms

On Tuesday, Richard Montgomery, the outgoing British High Commissioner to Nigeria, commended President Bola Tinubu's economic reforms, stating they would enhance Nigeria's long-term economic stability despite causing short-term difficulties for citizens. Montgomery made these remarks during a farewell visit to the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) in Abuja, where he acknowledged the significant changes that occurred during his three-year tenure.

He noted the challenges of devaluation and inflation but reiterated the importance of the reforms, highlighting the contributions of key figures such as Yemi Cadoso at the Central Bank of Nigeria, Wale Edun at the Ministry of Finance, and Zacch Adedeji, the NRS chairman. Montgomery described the NRS as a vital partner and praised the collaboration with His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

In response, Adedeji expressed gratitude for Montgomery's support and emphasized the positive outcomes of the reforms, underscoring the importance of strategic partnerships for sustainable development.
