Over 13,000 Retirees Enrolled in Pencare Health Scheme

Omolola Oloworaran, a director at the National Pension Commission (PenCom), disclosed that over 13,000 retirees are currently enrolled in the Pencare health insurance scheme. This announcement was made during a meeting with the Pension Industry Leadership Council (PILC) in Abuja.

Oloworaran stated that the current number of enrollees is not encouraging, as the council aims to reach a target of 30,000 participants for a smooth takeoff of the pilot scheme. She explained that the recent expansion of the eligibility threshold from N70,000 to N150,000 is crucial for onboarding more retirees.

The Pencare initiative is part of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) effort funded jointly by PenCom and pension fund operators (PFOs). The first phase aims to enroll 30,000 retirees based on specific criteria, with enrollment on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to meeting eligibility requirements.
