NAMA Clears Pension Default with PenCom and NSIWC

The National Pension Commission (PenCom) and the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC) have cleared the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) of default regarding retirees' pensions. A joint meeting held at NAMA's headquarters in Abuja involved NAMA's Managing Director, Engr.

Farouk Umar, and representatives of the retirees. They agreed to defer discussions on technical and legal interpretations concerning specific pension adjustments.

The retirees have appealed to the federal government for intervention regarding unpaid pension increments, arguing that NAMA has failed to implement approved pension increases from 2007 to 2024, which includes a monthly adjustment of 32,000 naira. The meeting aimed to establish compliance with the Pension Reform Act and ensure that NAMA adheres to civil service pension guidelines.

Dr. Solomon Ohiomah, NAMA's General Manager, emphasized the importance of collaboration between management and retirees to resolve outstanding issues.
