Over 1.5 Million PVCs Collected for FCT Area Council Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that over 1.5 million registered voters in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the Area Council elections set for Saturday, February 21, 2026. INEC Chairman Mohammed Kudu Haruna expressed that the turnout of 1,587,025 PVCs collected represents a 94.4% collection rate from a total of 1,680,315 registered voters in the FCT, with only 93,290 cards remaining uncollected as of February 10, 2026.

The breakdown across the six area councils shows encouraging performance, with Kuje Area Council achieving the highest collection rate of 97.2%. Other councils reported collection rates ranging from 93.1% to 95.0%.

INEC commended the cooperation of voters throughout the PVC collection process, emphasizing that having a valid PVC is essential for participating in the elections.
