FCT Area Council Elections Set for February 21, 2026

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026. This election will elect chairmen for six area councils and councillors for 62 wards within the Federal Capital Territory.

Voter accreditation is scheduled to begin at 8:30 AM and end at 2:30 PM on the election day. INEC has urged voters to confirm their polling units ahead of the elections, especially new voters who were not able to vote in the 2023 elections.

Voters can check their registration status online at cvr.inecnigeria.org and consult the list of polling units starting Tuesday, February 17, 2026. INEC emphasizes the importance of voter participation to strengthen democracy and encourages eligible voters to turn out and vote peacefully.
