EFCC Petitioned Over N15bn Enugu Property Demolition

Owners of a property valued at N15 billion in Enugu State have filed a petition with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding an alleged illegal demolition. The property, which includes 300 plots of land, is located near Ayo Railway Station in Centenary City.

The petition claims that the demolition occurred in October 2025 when a group, allegedly accompanied by armed police personnel, entered the property without a court order or government approval. The petitioners assert that the demolition destroyed assets worth N1 billion.

The land was validly sub-leased in 2019 by Hon. Anthony Nvene to Prince Arthur Ez, Chairman of Triax Company Nigeria Limited.

The petitioners argue that the actions taken amount to a deliberate attempt at fraud and unlawful dispossession. Barrister Chukwudi Oli, representing Prince Arthur Ez, has dismissed the claims as false, asserting that the actions were legally sanctioned.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation is involved, having leased the property and paid a premium of N371 million for a 10-year lease initiated in 2015.
