DSS Opens Case Against Suspects in Owo Church Attack

The Department of State Services (DSS) has commenced a case against five men accused of perpetrating the deadly attack on St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State.

The suspects, including Idri Abdulmalik Omeiza, Al Qasim Idri, Jamiu Abdulmalik, Abdulhaleem Idri, and Momoh Otuho Abubakar, were arraigned at the Federal High Court in Abuja on terrorism charges. The Catholic priest, who presided over the Pentecost Sunday mass during the attack, gave a harrowing account of the events, detailing the intense assault that claimed the lives of 40 worshippers.

The court granted an application to withhold the priest's identity for security reasons. The case has been adjourned for further trial.
