Oyo APC Defends Senator Alli Against Makinde's Claims

The Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State challenged Governor Seyi Makinde's engineering qualifications on September 19, 2026. They alleged that Makinde had spent over N250 billion on diesel-powered streetlights, questioning his ability to implement sustainable solutions despite his electrical engineering background.

The campaign organization, represented by Director of Media and Publicity Bisi Oladele, responded to Makinde's derogatory remarks about Senator Alli's legal experience, asserting that Alli is a seasoned lawyer who began his practice in 1987 and has held significant legal positions, including founding his own law firm in 1994. They criticized Makinde for his "ignorance" and "bitterness" regarding Alli's potential candidacy for governor in 2027, emphasizing that his administration's reliance on diesel generators is outdated and environmentally harmful, contrasting it with the solar solutions adopted by his predecessor.
