Oyo Governor Makinde Calls for Security Overhaul After Attack

Following a kidnapping incident in Oriir Local Government Area, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, members of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) led by Adolphus Wabara, and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) have demanded a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria's security architecture. The incident occurred on a Friday, where teachers and students were abducted from Baptist Nursery Primary School and Grammar School.

Tanimu Turaki, a member of the PDP's interim national working committee, expressed deep concern over the security situation in the state, emphasizing the need for serious attention to safety measures. Despite significant investments in security by the state government, recent attacks have raised alarms, especially with elections approaching.

The NBA's Ibadan branch, led by chairman Ibrahim Lawal, urged the state government to regulate commercial motorcyclists and take urgent action to rescue the abducted individuals. They condemned the increasing insecurity and called for a proactive response from both state and federal governments to ensure the safety of citizens.
