Oyo State Releases 2026/2027 Academic Calendar

The Oyo State government has officially released the academic calendar for the 2026/2027 session applicable to both public and private schools. The new academic year will begin on Monday, September 14, 2026.

The first term will last for 13 weeks, concluding on Friday, December 11, 2026, and will include an Open Day on Wednesday, October 28, with a mid-term break on October 29 and 30. The first-term vacation will start on December 14, 2026, and end on January 1, 2027.

The second term will commence on January 4, 2027, and run until April 2, 2027, also spanning 13 weeks, featuring an Open Day on February 17 and a mid-term break on February 18 and 19. The second-term vacation will take place from April 5 to April 23, 2027.

The third term will begin on April 26, 2027, and end on July 30, 2027, lasting 14 weeks, with an Open Day on June 9 and a mid-term break on June 10 and 11. The long vacation will run from August 2 to September 10, 2027.

The government mandates strict adherence to the calendar, warning that violations will incur penalties. Schools with international curricula wishing to deviate from the approved calendar must apply for calendar flexibility through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
