Oyo State Prepares 2027-2029 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework

The Oyo State Government has begun preparations for the 2027–2029 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) to strengthen governance, fiscal planning, and institutional capacity. A five-day workshop organized by the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning took place at the University of Ibadan Conference Centre, involving 60 participants from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) responsible for planning, budgeting, and finance.

Ghafar Bello, Executive Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, represented Commissioner Ayobami Ojo during the event. He described the workshop as a significant step towards transparent and result-oriented budgeting.

The MTEF is crucial for aligning government spending with policy priorities and available resources. The workshop aimed to enhance participants' understanding of revenue forecasting, expenditure planning, and fiscal sustainability, ensuring alignment with the Roadmap for Sustainable Development (Omituntun 2.0) and Agenda 2040.

Dr Ayuba Onifade, the Lead Consultant, emphasized the importance of accurate data for the MTEF's credibility.
