Oyo State Impounds Six Vehicles in Parking Crackdown

On Friday, Oyo State authorities conducted an operation to impound vehicles illegally parked around St. Mary's Cathedral in Ibadan.

The operation was executed by the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) in collaboration with the Amotekun Corps and the Nigeria Police Force. This action followed a formal petition highlighting that commercial transport operators were repeatedly occupying the area despite warnings, obstructing access to the church and causing traffic congestion.

A total of six vehicles were impounded, including four commercial buses and two Micra taxis. The operation faced some resistance from transport operators, which briefly created tension, but security personnel acted promptly to restore calm.

Hon. Justice Aderonke Aderemi, chairperson of the Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Agency, condemned the disregard for public order and emphasized the need to respect places of worship.

She affirmed the commitment to enforcing relevant laws across the state to maintain public order and safety.
