Oyo State Alerts Residents of Heavy Rainfall Ahead

The Oyo State Government, through Hon. Ademola Aderinto, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, has placed residents on alert for heavy rainfall expected across the state.

In a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, Aderinto raised the alarm about the gradual onset of the rainy season, predicting that residents will experience intense rainfall. While the government does not anticipate major flooding, Aderinto emphasized the importance of taking necessary precautions.

He clarified that the advisory is strictly for heavy rainfall and not a flood warning, urging residents not to raise false alarms about flooding. Aderinto advised the public, particularly those whose workplaces are far from home, to plan their movements early to ensure they reach their destinations before the rainfall begins, thereby avoiding being stranded.

He also encouraged residents to secure their windows and take safety measures while at home or in the office during the rain.
