Oyo Principal Kidnapped, Pleads for Government Rescue

On Friday, a principal identified as Mr. Alamu from Oriir Local Government in Oyo State was abducted by a group of gunmen during an attack on a school, which also resulted in the death of a staff member.

In a video that surfaced online, Mr. Alamu pleaded for help from the federal government, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and the Christian Association of Nigeria, emphasizing the urgent need for intervention to secure the release of himself, teachers, and students who were taken.

The attack occurred around 9:30 AM, prompting the state government to shut down schools in the affected area. Oyo State Commissioner Dotun Oyelad confirmed that security operations were intensified to rescue the victims, with efforts focused on the Old Oyo National Park where the kidnappers were believed to be hiding.

The Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Civil Defence, and Amotekun Corps were deployed to the area to prevent the suspects from fleeing to neighboring Kwara State.
