Oyo Speaker Ogundoyin Announces 2027 Governorship Bid

On Tuesday, October 3, 2023, Adebo Ogundoyin, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, declared his intention to run for the governorship in the 2027 elections. This announcement took place during a meeting with prominent leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the party's secretariat in Ibadan.

Notable attendees included Oyo State PDP Deputy Chairman Wasiu Adeleke, Chief Nureni Akanbi, Chief Ismaila Ashipa, and Remi Ayo, among others. Ogundoyin, who represents the Ibarapa East State Constituency, highlighted his leadership experience as essential for leading the state and stressed the importance of sustaining the achievements of the current administration led by Governor Seyi Makinde, whose tenure ends in 2027.

He appealed for support from party leaders in Ibadanland, promising to build on the developmental strides made during Makinde's leadership.
