Terrorists Kill Deacon to Force Government Deal in Oyo

Rachael Alamu recounted the traumatic experience of being kidnapped alongside Michael Olugbod and Folalumi Alaran, with Michael being killed by terrorists to force the government into negotiations. The incident occurred on a Sunday in June, with Alamu expressing gratitude for surviving and the support received from President Bola Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde.

The Oyo State government has taken formal custody of the victims and assured full responsibility for their welfare and education recovery. Governor Makinde emphasized the importance of reuniting victims with their families and pledged ongoing support for their psychological and educational needs.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) commended the successful rescue operation by Nigerian security agencies and called for renewed efforts to free other kidnapping victims across Nigeria. The victims endured a harrowing ordeal, including a four-hour trek through the forest to regain their freedom, and none experienced sexual assault during captivity.
