PalmPay Introduces NightGuard for Enhanced Transfer Security

PalmPay has introduced NightGuard, a new security feature designed to enhance the safety of night-time transfers by requiring additional verification during selected hours. The feature is available through PalmPay's upgraded Security Centre and allows customers to set a protection window from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Any transfer attempts during this period will necessitate an extra verification step before completion. Femi Hanson, Head of PalmPay Nigeria Marketing, explained that this feature addresses the heightened risks of unauthorized transfers when a phone is lost or compromised, particularly at night.

NightGuard does not suspend night transfers but adds a verification requirement during the defined hours. This initiative is part of PalmPay's broader strategy to improve digital payment security as the use of digital transactions continues to grow in Nigeria.

The company emphasizes the importance of customer control over account security while raising awareness of potential risks associated with digital financial services.
