Patience Ozokwor Warns Against Over-Pampering Children

Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, known as Mama G, cautioned parents about the dangers of over-pampering their children, asserting that it could impede their growth into responsible and independent adults. During her discussion on parenting, she stated that parents should allow their children to encounter challenges and earn what they desire instead of providing everything for them.

Ozokwor remarked, “When you say, ‘I don’t want my children to suffer what I suffered when I was growing up’, you see, that’s the best way to destroy your children.” She clarified that her message was not to encourage suffering but to promote the value of struggle and understanding the process of building one's life. Additionally, she addressed the issue of family wealth, advising that children should not assume they will inherit everything their parents have worked for.

Ozokwor shared her personal approach with her son, telling him, “I told my son, my house isn’t yours, go and work for your own.”.
