Gas Tanker Fire Causes Panic in Anambra State

On Saturday, a gas tanker carrying liquefied petroleum gas burst into flames along the Awka-Enugu Expressway near the Women Development Centre in Agu Awka, Anambra State, around 7 PM. The incident caused significant panic among residents and road users, leading many to flee the area to avoid potential danger.

The fire, which completely consumed the tanker head and engine cabin, was reportedly caused by an electrical spark. The Anambra State Fire Service, led by Chukwudi Chiketa, received a distress call at 7:27 PM and promptly responded to the scene.

Firefighters successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby properties and averting a potentially hazardous situation. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or fatalities.

The firefighting operation concluded at 8:18 PM, and the fire service urged the public to remain vigilant regarding vehicle electrical systems and to report any fire emergencies to the nearest fire station.
