Passengers Lament as Air Peace, United Nigeria Jack Up Ticket Prices to Over N300,000

Passengers are expressing dissatisfaction as Nigerian airlines Air Peace and United Nigeria have significantly raised ticket prices to over N300,000 in preparation for the upcoming holiday season. Air Peace increased economy fares for routes like Lagos to Asaba, while United Nigeria hiked prices for flights like Enugu to Benin and Abuja to Benin.

Despite the price surge, Ibom Air, owned by the Akwa Ibom State government, has maintained stable ticket prices. Travelers are concerned about the steep increase and some are considering road transport due to insecurity challenges.

Airline Operators of Nigeria trustee Roland Iyayi explained that pricing is based on economic reality and demand-supply dynamics. The fare adjustments reflect the holiday traffic in the Southeast region.

Enugu State's commercial airline, Enugu Air, has also recently started operations with a vision to become a leading aviation hub.
