Paul Okoku Reflects on Key Moments in Football Career

Paul Okoku, a notable figure in Nigerian football, shares ten significant moments that shaped his life. He was among the first Nigerian football representatives at the FIFA U20 World Cup and won a silver medal at the 1984 Africa Cup of Nations.

His journey began in 1979 during a youth football competition where he received a scholarship from Chief Adeniran Ogunsanya, which he credits as a life-changing moment. Okoku's father faced deteriorating eyesight, and through the intervention of Coach Dan Ajibod and the Nation Bank Football Club, he was able to undergo surgery that restored his sight.

This experience motivated Okoku to pursue education alongside his football career, leading him to earn a degree from Alabama A&M University in 1984. He served as vice-captain of the Nigerian team at the FIFA World Youth Championship in Mexico and later represented Nigeria at the 1984 Africa Cup of Nations, which remains one of his proudest achievements.
