PCN Inducts 115 Pharmacy Graduates at ABUAD Ceremony

On Thursday, during an induction and oath-taking ceremony in Ado Ekiti, the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria inducted 115 Doctor of Pharmacy graduates from Afe Babalola University (ABUAD). The Registrar, Ibrahim Babashehu, urged the graduates to prioritize ethical standards and strive for excellence to enhance sustainable healthcare.

Notably, 35 graduates achieved First Class honours. Prof. Martins Emeje, Director-General of the Nigeria Natural Medicine Development Agency, delivered a lecture emphasizing the need for healthcare professionals to explore local medicinal resources and integrate traditional medicine with modern practices.

He discussed the theme “Advancing Pharmacy Practice in the 21st Century: Integrating Digital Innovation, One Health and Indigenous Knowledge Towards Global Medicine Security,” advocating for investment in indigenous medicine and local drug production. Emeje highlighted the importance of digital technologies in pharmacy and the potential of nature-based healthcare to improve health outcomes while fostering economic growth and reducing reliance on imported drugs.
