PDP and ADC Reject Joint Ticket at Ibadan Summit

During the Ibadan Opposition Summit, factions of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) openly rejected the proposal for a joint presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections. Prominent opposition figures, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, attended the summit, which aimed to form a united front against President Bola Tinubu.

However, tensions surfaced immediately, with PDP faction leader Nyesom Wike strongly opposing the summit's legitimacy, labeling it as an illegitimate organization and claiming that top opposition figures present were impostors. Wike emphasized that the PDP would not enter an alliance and that the party's plan to field its own presidential candidate remained unchanged.

Similarly, ADC factions led by Kingsley Ogga and Nafiu Gomb distanced themselves from the summit, asserting that it did not represent their party's interests. The Labour Party also clarified its non-participation, focusing instead on internal restructuring.
