PDP Board of Trustees Backs Turaki Despite Court Judgment

The People's Democratic Party's Board of Trustees has dismissed a Federal High Court judgment in Ibadan that challenged Kabiru Turaki's leadership. The court ruling, which occurred after the party's November 2025 national convention, has no practical effect on Turaki's position as the leader of the National Working Committee.

The Board of Trustees emphasized that the judgment does not impact the status of Turaki's leadership and noted that the matter is already before the Court of Appeal. The party has filed a notice of appeal and a motion to stay the judgment's execution.

The Board of Trustees assured party members of its support for Turaki's leadership and efforts to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. The court ruling sought to restrain Turaki and others from holding national party offices, but the party views it as a technical issue that does not affect the legality of the decisions made at the convention.
