Court Upholds PDP Convention, Confirms Turaki as Chairman

On November 15, 2025, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) held a national convention in Ibadan, which was subsequently upheld by the Oyo State High Court. The court, presided over by Justice Ladiran Akintola, delivered its judgment on a suit (No. 1336/2025) on Friday, confirming the convention's validity.

The court dismissed objections raised against the convention, stating that there was insufficient evidence to prove any procedural breaches of the party's internal regulations. Justice Akintola noted that the convention complied with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution and the amended Electoral Act of 2022.

The ruling affirmed the emergence of the national working committee led by Kabiru Turaki as the legitimate leadership of the PDP. Additionally, motions seeking to suspend the ruling were dismissed for lack of merit, effectively putting an end to various disputes surrounding the convention and confirming Turaki's position as the PDP's National Chairman.
