Wike Camp Affirms Legitimacy of PDP Caretaker Committee

The faction led by Nyesom Wike has declared the People's Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee as legitimate, arguing that there cannot be a vacuum in leadership. Okei Osuoha, a member of the caretaker committee, expressed these views during a prime-time interview on Arise Television on Monday.

He warned that a legal battle could deepen within the PDP, particularly concerning the outcomes of the 2025 national convention and the role of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in recognizing these outcomes. Osuoha pointed out that the current National Working Committee's tenure has expired, and a legitimate convention has yet to be conducted.

He emphasized the importance of political structure at the grassroots level, indicating that the party must organize at the ward, local government, state, and national levels to ensure effective congresses and delegate voting for the national convention.
